Taiwan Floods 2011 - Hard Drive Shortage

Postby Chris@CP » 24 Oct 2011, 13:21

Due to flooding in Taiwan it's caused a shortage of hard drives which is pushing the price up and reducing the number of drives we can offer on our system builder.

Full details of the story are available at:

http://www.crn.com/news/storage/2319009 ... ortage.htm

We have purchased stock to last the next 3 months which has pushed the price up on our system builder for the main hard drive models. We have lowered the margin to balance this out.

We have reduced the number of "more option" drives until more supply is available.

We have increased the number of solid state "more option" drives and lowered the price on all solid state drives which are not affected by the shortage.
