xp or vista

Postby rincewind37 » 18 Feb 2008, 00:04

Hi all
Hope everyone is well.
Just wondering what opinion was on which is the best operating system for gaming.
Is it vista with it,s directX10 or is xp better with it using less ram
and being more familiar.
What say YOU?

I have vista home premium but i have been advised to switch back to vista for better gaming performance.

I posted the same question in a gaming forum and got a variety of answers! In the end the general opinion was to bite the bullet and get Vista 64bit, 4gb ram along with a quad core to make my gaming system future proof.

Remember new games such as Crysis use dx10 so all the games to come will follow suite!

I'll try and find another thread I found which went into more detail, but 64bit vista came out better for gaming than 32bit vista.

PS: Rincewind rings a bell!!! do you play BF2 at all?

funny that o.0 ..cos rincewind rings bells for me aswell..so either its a small world, or its a common name.

To stick on topic, ive got vista64 and havn't had trouble running games I wanna play, and it is the way forward..well..will be eventually, but to be fair youve probably got a long while to make a decision

::Edit:: ....just noticed your martin lol, thats probably why the name rang bells xD

Remember also these people that say XP is better than Vista for gaming forget to mention the fact that XP is on SP2! So what will happen when Vista gets to SP1 or 2?!?!? That could change things a lot!!! Vista has got to be the way forward!

I'm sure there is a Vista SP1 out soon!?!?

I've heard there is a crack for DX10 to run on xp, well i've got the file just not used it, may be a blag...
I've also heard that microsoft are having a lot of trouble with vista,
and may even be working on a new xp with vista being turned into
the media centre version of the O/S.

Info came from the manager of Halifax computers, maybe some CP admin have some more info on this.
Anyone else heard owt.
