New PC + Thanks to computer planet

Postby Rob1991 » 20 Aug 2011, 10:49

So here is the second rig I have bought from computer planet. Yet again I don't have a bad word to say about the order process, building process, or the actual rig itself once it was delivered.

There was a problem with the postage, however this was not Computer Planets fault. UPS had decided to send my PC half way down the country.. to then mess up and put it on a van back to Manchester. I contacted UPS with no replies (until it was too late and I had the pc anyway), however I did contact CP. I got home from work Monday afternoon (The Saturday just past was when my parcel should have arrived) and found an email saying reply back when you want your PC to be delivered and I will phone UPS. I asked for it to be delivered Tuesday, and within a matter of minutes the parcel was already back out for shipment! :D

Throughout my order process, Steve and Dave has been replying to my emails who I have to thank for doing such a great job and replying really quickly.

The PC arrived in good condition, with fantastic packaging to keep it safe in transit not only around the PC Case box, but inside the PC too! Everything is working perfectly up to the point of me typing this new thread, and I have been getting amazing results in Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Medal of Honor with the highest graphic settings possible... BRING ON BATTLEFIELD 3! This has been fantastic as I run a gaming community which is slowly growing again after letting it go quiet the past 4-6 months, with a new name and a focus on recording and streaming game play, and other gaming related stuff! I will no doubt be telling anyone looking for a new PC to come to computerplanet.

Here is that first video I recorded in game in Medal of Honor. Excuse the parts where I keep dying, this particular recording did not go so well. :P

Now here are some pictures! Again excuse any blurriness, I should probably invest in a new Camera too.

Its not letting me add images using BBCode, I did have more pictures too but I can only attach 5 I think you get the idea though. :P

No problem. Just noticed I said Dave was sorting out my support tickets, it was mainly Steve. Thanks to both of them and everyone at CP!

I would just like to add an update to my review of computer planet and the RMA experience I have just had.

I had to start an RMA after my PSU started rattling, and also my graphics card was showing signs of over heating, and there was a loose screw that I was not please about. Computer planet collected the PC from me with a pre-paid UPS collection. Work started and I was kept reasonably informed throughout the RMA process + quick replies were also made to any ticket updates I did.

The PSU and Graphics card both failed which meant they could be replaced. Both of these issues could not be blamed on Computer Planet in any way, I guess it was just some bad hardware. But overall it was good. It did take about 16-17 ish days, but I didn't mind as I just wanted everything fixed once and for all with no more problems.

There was however one thing that I was a bit put off with, and that was the graphics card I had before the GTX 580 DS SC was now end of line, so I had to have a different graphics card, the GTX 580 SC (No difference in clock speeds, but the DS had better cooling with dual fans.., and looked better :P). However I did not know about this until I got the pc back and I unboxed it. What I do not know is whether I was going to be told about this or not, once I had the PC back. After contacting support the day I got it back, it turned out it was only a £3 difference in card price, so instead of being refunded, Steve said the other option is to get a copy of Batman 2 sent to me, which sounded reasonable.

Overall the RMA process was good, apart from the graphics card replacement, which at the end of the day is not computer planets fault that a card is end of line. It is just the small matter of not being told about it. So far the PSU sounds fine and the graphics card is ok, but its one of them things where I don't want to say much, and give it a few weeks/month before I know the pc is ok.

Final few words. The pc was returned back to me in yet again, fantastic packaging, sitting the case box on polystyrene blocks, and completely surrounded by huge 'bubble wrap'. The inside of the case was once again filled with a smaller bubble wrap to support the hardware in transit.

Rob.
