Slight problem

Postby rawne1980 » 21 Sep 2011, 23:26

PC arrived yesterday and booted up fine. All was well, rainbows were shining, rabbits were hugging and my kids were being quiet (which was a pleasant surprise).

However.....

Today as I was happily skipping through fields of corn on Oblivion my PC froze. So I rebooted it, shouted at it for being naughty and went back to skipping. A few minutes later it froze again. Now the PC is grounded and definitely not getting any supper.

Booted it back up and it got to log in and froze again. Cue slanging match with an inanimate object which my wife found highly amusing .... I wasn't laughing. So I booted it up again (see a pattern here) this time it got to the BIOS select screen and froze, I gave up shouting at it, I thought I may have hurt it's feelings so just took to giving it slightly annoyed looks.

So I booted it up again (actually considered booting it for real about now). The fans started kicking up a fuss and whirling like a drunk Ferret on a roundabout, it got to the BIOS select screen again and froze yet again. So I rebooted it again, fans kicked off and it froze again. Tried rebooting and now it won't boot up at all.

The lights come on but it does nothing.

Now, normally i'd remain placid and level headed. Now comes the "but". The PC was ordered a month ago, had to change parts twice and was a week later than estimated. Last wednesday I asked about a part that my order said it was waiting for as it had been a week and i'd heard nothing. I got a mail back saying someone had spoke to the build department and i'd be getting an e-mail late thursday with a delivery time ..... that e-mail never arrived.

So in the course of a month I was charged extra for parts that weren't compatible after the site itself said the ones I picked were. Had to pick different parts after being told a part was missing/damaged. Been lied to about an e-mail. And now i'm sat here with a PC that won't boot up

This PC was a gift for my 30th birthday from my sister. Now you'll maybe see why i'm a little bit on the irritated side and not very far off a "hulk smash" mindset.

Not only am I getting old and grumpy I can't even play PC games to try and retain what little bit of youth hasn't turned grey yet.

Edit - And now it's booted up again.

Colour me confuddled but if anyone could enlighten me as to why it does then doesn't then does work again i'd be ever so grateful. I'd even think kind thoughts about you when I next eat a cookie ..... honest.

Edit 2 - And it's frozen again. It's a good job we have a small army of PC's in this house. Still want mine to work though it's the only one capable of handling my games.

I may cry. You don't want to see a grown man cry.

It's all good now.

You guys fixed it recently and it's been working perfectly since I got it back.
